Tata Electronics has announced the appointment of Dr. Bobby Mitra as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and President of AI and Digital Transformation. In this capacity, Dr. Mitra will spearhead AI-driven and digital transformation initiatives across the company’s operations, which include Electronic Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services.
Dr. Mitra’s appointment comes as Tata Electronics intensifies its focus on AI-powered manufacturing, highlighted by the establishment of two milestone projects: India’s first semiconductor fabrication unit in Dholera, Gujarat, and the nation’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

Dr. Mitra brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including leading global smart manufacturing and electronics systems at Texas Instruments, serving as President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments India, and most recently, working as Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting, where he focused on manufacturing and supply chain innovation.
“I am honored to join Tata Electronics at a time when the company is shaping the future of AI-powered manufacturing in India,” said Dr. Mitra. “I look forward to contributing to Tata Electronics’ vision by integrating AI, automation, and digital platforms into our manufacturing processes.” Dr. Mitra holds a BTech in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur. He also earned an Executive MBA from the University of Texas, Austin.
